OPEN ROLE
Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer – Supply Chain Optimization
Sophus | Sophus X Decision Intelligence Platform
- Remote
- Full-Time
We’re hiring a Pre-Sales Solutions Engineer to sit at the intersection of the Sophus X platform, our optimization technology, and the customers whose supply chains we help redesign and optimize. It’s a customer-facing, technically demanding role for someone who has spent considerable time in supply chain design and optimization — building models, running scenarios, and turning messy real-world logistics problems into structured, solvable formulations stakeholders can act on..
About Sophus
We’re growing our EMEA team and looking for an experienced supply chain technology consultant to help us deliver and coach on projects using Sophus Technology across the region. This is a high-impact, highly independent role focused on customer success and technical consultancy.
The Role
the right optimization problem, building the model in Sophus X — whether that’s a greenfield facility-location
study, a multi-echelon inventory redesign, or a full network digital twin — and presenting results in a way that
earns trust and drives a decision. You’ll work directly with VPs of Supply Chain, Directors of Logistics, and internal
operations research teams, (as examples), often going deeper than a typical pre-sales engineer to defend a
modeling assumption, debug a scenario that won’t converge, or reconcile messy customer data with what the
model expects.
This isn’t a role for someone who wants a scripted demo to fall back on. Every prospect’s network, cost structure,
and constraints are different, so you’ll adapt the solution design accordingly — asking the right diagnostic
questions, pressure-testing your own assumptions, and owning a problem until it’s actually solved.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
Pre-Sales & Solution Design
- Lead technical discovery with prospective customers to understand their network structure, cost drivers, service constraints, and strategic questions (e.g., facility location, capacity planning, sourcing strategy, inventory positioning).
- Design and build optimization models that accurately represent a customer’s business in Sophus X — translating business requirements into network design, inventory, or production scenarios the customer can act on.
- Own the proof-of-concept / pilot process end to end — from Sophus X’s rapid baselining (turning a
month of transactional data into an interactive network map within 48 hours) through the final results
readout. - Present findings and recommendations to customer stakeholders
Collaboration & Enablement
- Partner closely with Sales and Customer Success to shape deal strategy, win themes, and account expansion opportunities
- Work with Product and Engineering to ensure customer-facing modeling needs are reflected in the roadmap.
- Mentor and set the technical bar for how solution design is done at Sophus as the team grows, documenting best practices along the way
- Represent Sophus externally at industry events, webinars, and customer forums as a credible voice on network design and optimization.
Required
- Experience: 5–10+ years in supply chain optimization, or operations research, in a customer-facing or
solution-design capacity (pre-sales, consulting, or solutions engineering). - Industry background: possible prior experience at a supply chain optimization software or consulting
company. - Modeling fluency: hands-on experience formulating and solving supply chain optimization problems
(facility location, flow/transportation, multi-echelon inventory). - Data fluency: comfortable working with large, messy supply chain datasets in Excel/SQL/Python to prepare, validate, and reconcile model inputs
- Communication: able to translate complex optimization concepts into clear, decision-ready narratives for both technical and executive audiences.
- Ownership mindset: a self-starter who takes initiative on ambiguous problems and is willing to go deep — into the data, the model, or the customer’s business — as far as necessary to get to a defensible answer.
- Ability to travel when needed: Some amount of travel will be required to customer/prospect meetings,
conferences, and company events (as examples).
- Experience partnering with sales teams in a quota-carrying or deal-supporting capacity, including RFP/RFI response and technical evaluations
- Exposure to a SaaS go-to-market motion, including POCs, trials, and technical win/loss analysis.
- Public speaking or thought-leadership experience (webinars, conference talks, published case studies) in
the supply chain optimization space.
